Adios, John Murtha

John Murtha has shuffled off this mortal coil. Good riddance to him and other traitors such as Ted Kennedy. They supported the enemies of this nation, and they sought to mock and deride Americans and elevate those who would send us into a maelstrom of Third World hellhole.

On October 15, 2008, Murtha courted controversy when he accused voters in his home district of Pennsylvania of being racists because, in his estimation, they were not supporting Obama’s candidacy in adequate numbers (though Obama was in fact leading in the polls). “I think Obama is going to win, but I don’t think it's going to be a runaway,” Murtha said. “There is no question that western Pennsylvania is a racist area,” he added. “The older population is more hesitant [to embrace a black candidate].”
Murtha characterized his own constituents as "rednecks" as they sent the shamed congressman back to represent western Pennsylvania. How can that be? Why are they so loyal to the Democrat party that they would re-elect a man who insults them?

Pittsburgh writer Joe Guzzardi pointed out:

"Murtha and Obama offended everyone with their remarks. We’re not racist, bitter or "anti-immigrant".  But we are pro-American—and there’s a world of difference. One reason western Pennsylvania sticks to its traditional party allegiances: there is relatively little immigration. (Note: the data cited throughout the rest of my column is taken from Pittsburgh Today. org and refers to the Pittsburgh Metropolitan Statistical Area, that is, Pittsburgh and its surrounding area.)  Only 0.9 percent of Pittsburgh’s population is foreign-born and has arrived within the last decade. Compare that to Los Angeles where, as of 2005, nearly 35 percent of residents were born outside of the U.S. In California, as well as the rest of the country, Mexicans represent the largest foreign-born group. They arrive in a completely uncontrolled fashion, accounting for 44 percent of the state’s non-U.S.-born.  Mexican migrants who in previous decades might have identified California as their destination now also head toward Nevada, Colorado, Georgia and North Carolina.  But few come to Pennsylvania. The state ranks fifteenth on the list of fifty with only 4.4 percent foreign-born. (See Center for Immigration Studies, Immigrants at Mid-Decade, by Steven Camarota.) Specifically, they aren't’ coming to Pittsburgh. As of 2000, the Hispanic population was only 0.7 percent, the lowest of any major US city. By national and benchmark norms, Pittsburgh’s Hispanic population and its overall rate of in-migration is infinitesimal."

So illegal Immigration has not wrecked western Pennsylvania, but in May 2004 Murtha voted against requiring hospitals to report illegal aliens who receive medical treatment. In September 2006 he voted against a bill authorizing the construction of 700 miles of double-layered fencing between the U.S. and Mexico. Murtha is rated 25% by the U.S. Border Control (USBC), signifying that his voting record is weak on the issue of border defense. The key is, as they say in real estate, "location, location, location."  Immigration has not loaded the streets with PIOLON drivers and violent gang bangers as is the case in California. Still how could they vote for Murtha again and again?

Possibly his worst offense was his slander against our own troops. In May 2006 Murtha reacted swiftly and angrily to unsubstantiated allegations that a squad of eight U.S. Marines had killed, without cause, up to two-dozen unarmed civilians in the Iraqi town of Haditha. The congressman appeared on ABC’s This Week program, where he said that the Marines had “overreacted because of the pressure on them and they killed innocent civilians in cold blood.” He continued, “There’s no question in my mind about what happened here. There was no gunfire [from the Iraqis]. They [the American Marines] killed four people in a taxi and then in addition to that, they went into the rooms and killed them.” He further alleged that the U.S. military was trying to “cover up” what had occurred in Haditha.

In the May 17, 2006 edition of Hardball with Chris Matthews, Matthews said to Murtha, “[W]hen you say cold blood, Congressman, a lot of people think you're basically saying you have got some civilians sitting in a room or out in a field and they're executed just on purpose.” Murtha replied, “That’s exactly what happened.”

By June 2008, it had become apparent that Murtha’s allegations against the eight Marines were entirely unfounded. Charges had been dismissed against six of the eight, while a seventh had been acquitted. Moreover, two of the Marines filed defamation and slander suits against Murtha.

In conclusion, Murtha's prospered and was re-elected as a result of brand loyalty. The people he slandered, the national security he harmed and the Leftist agenda he promoted were ignored because Pennsylvanians voted for the Democrat. That's all that must have mattered; he was the Democrat.

Adios, traitor.
