Lane Change For USC

ELVISNIXON was wrong in our prediction for the replacement of Pete Carroll at USC, but then again, so was everybody else.

Everybody.

Looking back it is funny how Washington Husky  head coach Steve Sarkisian was floated as a possibility but not Lane Kiffin. Both were first year head coaches who had served under Carroll. Somehow the perception was that Sarkisian would be willing to leave Seattle but, of course, Kiffin was in for the long haul in Knoxville, TN.

Why?

Sarkisian had beaten Carroll and managed to keep Jake Locker to pull a Matt Leinart and forgo the NFL draft one more season. Kiffin meanwhile had managed to infuriate the SEC and make rude remarks to and about Urban Myer.

ELVISNIXON agrees with Jack F's assessment that "..The best part of this hire by SC is not Kiffin, but the assistants he brings with him. Ed Orgeron, the best recruiter in the country and a fiery leader. Monte Kiffin, Pete Carrol's tutor and former defensive coordinator of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Great Norm Chow, he greatest quarterback coach in the history of college football. We need our old offensive line coach Tim Davis back to make the " Dream Team" complete..."

If somehow Norm Chow ends his Benedict Arnold act and returns to South Central from his sojourn in Westwood the glory days of USC's National Championship squads will be duplicated. If only Justin Fargas still had some eligibility left.
